"The conference covered so much helpful teaching
on interpersonal relationships with your children. One
thing that set this conference apart from others I've
been to, is their children's involvement. If it were
just them saying, 'This is what we've done and this
is what's worked,' it would be valuable, but to see
the living fruit of what they have done right there
alongside with them and to see the interactions between
them - to know this is real and honest. It's really
amazing. The Downers shared how to relate on such a
deeper level than I think most people ever achieve with
their children and deeper than I've been able to achieve.
Just to hear that it is possible and to help us, step

"I probably have not seen this many good ideas
come out of any conference I've been to before in the
area of cultivating the relationship, and making a disciple
out of your own child. What really came shining through
was discipleship as it relates to relationships. Probably
the most powerful thing I've seen was that the relationship
with your children is so important and effective in
leading them on the path to Christ. Also the concept
of that reproducing in others down the line is so important
and one I had not really even thought about - that the
multiplication of discipleship can happen - not only
through your own kids, but that we should be making
disciples of others and our kids should be making disciples
of others.
Of rare value was the session with fathers and sons
on sexual purity. It was a great help that Phil had
the willingness and frankness to go where few dare to
go in helping in that area. It gave me a springboard
to talk to my own son about those matters I had naturally
been kind of shy to speak about with him. But it helped

As young parents a few years ago, we searched to find a family
that could mentor us in raising our children. We were very
impressed with the Downer family, but unfortunately they lived
in Chattanooga and we lived in Cape Girardeau. The videos
on marriage and raising godly children have been wonderful!
