God’s Fruit

Dear Friends,

Phil is off again this morning headed to Peoria for their Leadership Prayer Breakfast tomorrow morning.  Please pray that many would come to know our wonderful Savior as Phil shares from his heart how the Lord has changed him. Then he is heading to Burlington, Massachusetts to do an Eternal Impact conference this weekend.  Please pray for the men to come away with a deeper commitment to their wives and children and to reach out to their peers in discipleship.

Phil returned early yesterday morning from an incredible seven-day trip.  He began last Wednesday in Greenville where Dana Sullivan had asked him to speak to businessmen brought by CBMCers to their golf outreach luncheon.  Then he flew to Omaha to minister with Ken Korkow at CBMC meetings in four states.  From Thursday through Sunday, they drove from Omaha to Sioux City, Iowa, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Aberdeen, S.D., Bismark, North Dakota, and Pierre, South Dakota.  The Bismark meetings were for the annual Steer missionary conference. Then Phil shared his message of changing the world through discipleship one life at a time at three services Sunday morning. That night, out of gratitude for all Ken and Liz do for  the CBMCers of their area, the men in Pierre committed to the entire $8000 deficit in Ken’s budget.  Praise the Lord!

Phil and Ken arrived at the Omaha airport about 3 am Monday morning and Phil took the early bird to Stroudsburg, PA. for their Leadership Prayer Breakfast on Tuesday. Jack Muehlhan and his wife had been working on this meeting for almost two years and were they excited! Following this, Phil spoke at the Scranton luncheon, organized by Fred Schank and other CBMC organizers.

God was so good!  Phil and Ken had been praying for 50 people to pray to receive Christ in the five outreach meetings and 256 prayed!  They were also praying for 300 Christians to commit to ask God for one person to disciple this next year, and in eight meetings, 649 people made that commitment!  We are overwhelmed at what God did and continues to do.  Thank you for the part you had in this by your prayers and support.

The girls and I had a wonderful time in D.C. with Joshua. We were able to see him "in action" on the Senate floor and got quality time with him over the weekend.  He is in his element, but it is quite a schedule.  The day before we came he had been up at 5, consulting with a professor at 5:30, in class from 6:15 to 9, worked in the Senate until 8:30 pm and then had 4 hours of homework!

Matthew is taking The American Presidency from a man who had been in the Ford, Reagan, and Bush administrations, Spanish, Expository Writing focused on censorship and freedom of expression, and The English Bible! He has become active in the Institute of Politics and was chosen to be one of the study group liaisons to a visiting fellow, Ben Coes, who ran the successful campaign of Massachusetts’ Republican governor, Mitt Romney. Matthew is also in a weekly small group of freshman men sponsored by Christian Impact.

Joshua is going up to Harvard this weekend to visit Matthew and Phil is going to get a few hours with them on Sunday afternoon after his conference in Burlington.  I am going up with Paul and Anna for Parent’s Weekend in two weeks.

In the midst of the negative news all around us, we are finding an unusual openness to the gospel of Jesus Christ and a profound interest on the part of Christians to disciple other people.  God is clearly at work in our country through faithful people like you in cities like yours. Let us all be encouraged to share the hope that is within us, with those who don’t know the Lord and to ask God for opportunities to disciple.

We covet your prayers as we serve the Lord together.

In His gracious care,

Susy
