Dear Friends,

What an incredibly exciting year we are having.  The Lord is multiplying the
ministry we are doing through Discipleship Network of America in so many
ways.  Phil continues to do quite a number of Eternal Impact men's retreats
along with many other variations of speaking at churches, CBMC meetings
(including a Fathering conference in Omaha), and other events. He will be
doing a conference in August focused on godly leadership using our new book
Just An Ordinary Man (based on our good friend, Gene Ast) as his text.  If
you are interested in some of the details, they are on our website:
www.DNAministries.org.

Please be in prayer for the North County Executive National Day of Prayer
Breakfast in Del Mar, California at 7:15 am tomorrow (10:15 EDT)- sorry I
didn't give you more notice. Phil will be the outreach speaker.  Pray that
hearts will be drawn to Christ as Phil shares his story and that the group
will be able to do effective follow-up of those who pray.

Many of you have heard Phil's Vietnam stories over the years and you know
what an important part of Phil's life his Marine days were.  He has some
exciting opportunities this weekend to minister to some of his fellow
Marines.  He is speaking at the SOI Barracks Bible study on the Marine base
tomorrow night, is doing a Navigator Rally for service guys and their wives
Friday night, and then is speaking to 300 - 400 Marines on Sunday morning at
MCRD (Marine Corps Recruiting Depot) - where Phil was in 1966.

Then on Sunday evening he has the privilege of doing training in Operation
Timothy for the Lake Arrowhead CBMC and Lake Arrowhead Community Baptist
Church where Phil spoke a week ago.  They are inviting the 156 people who
came forward and asked God for one person to disciple this next year. Please
pray that these men and women who have caught the vision for the incredible
impact of one-on-one discipleship, will follow through both with the
training, and then actually getting in Paul/Timothy relationships.

On a personal note, Matthew, Joshua, and Anna's homeschool mock trial team
again won both the regional and state tournaments and are now headed to
Nationals! We will be driving to New Orleans next Tuesday and they will be
competing on Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, against teams representing
over forty states and territories.  Please lift them up to the Lord as they
endeavor to honor Him in all they do.  They have significant pressure on
them from lots of quarters with people saying, "We expect you to bring home
the National Championship for the second year in a row!"  No team has ever
won two years in a row, but they are certainly working hard on the case.  It
is a fascinating case about alleged fraud in a high school election -
replete with pregnant and hanging chads and voting machine irregularities -
sound familiar?

Sadly, Abigail's graduation from Covenant College is also May 10, so Phil is
staying here to play host to friends and relatives coming to celebrate, and
I am going to New Orleans with the team.  She will then move home and begin
studying for the CPA exam which is in November before moving to Atlanta
after Christmas for her new job with Frazier & Deeter.

Matthew and I returned from Harvard Monday night from the prefrosh weekend
for the students who had been accepted and their parents.  What an exciting
four years he has ahead of him!  The opportunities he will have there are
quite unbelievable.  On Sunday morning I went to the historic Park Street
Church, right on Boston Common.  For a history lover, this area is the
quintessential experience - for example, Paul Revere, John Hancock, and
Samuel Adams are buried next door.  I can't wait to take the younger three
up to experience the area.

We had some exciting news today about Paul.  At the Honor Chapel at Bryan
College this morning Paul was given the P. A. Boyd endowed Character and
Influence Award for the sophomore class.  The faculty makes the decision.
It was a humbling and encouraging time for Paul. This summer, he will divide
his time between being a counselor for Summit Ministries and again working
for DNA.  His passion is discipleship and he will be exercising that vision
as a Resident Assistant at Bryan this fall.

Phil's schedule is almost filled for the fall and he has quite a lot
scheduled for 2004 and even some in 2005.  If we can be of service to you in
any way, whether doing a conference for you or any other kind of event,
please give Phil a call at 423 886-6362 or, of course, email him. Thank you,
dear friends, for all you do to make it possible for us to minister in the
name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sincerely in Christ,

Susy
